Dawson Rotary asks county to approve $8,000 park improvements including two dog parks

Representatives of the Dawson Rotary Club asked the Dawson County Board of Commissioners on May 21 to approve roughly $8,000 in improvements to the Rotary Butterfly Garden area on Highway 9 South.
Brook Anderson, who identified himself as representing the Dawson Rotary Club, described the club’s recent county projects at Rock Creek Park and Veterans Park and said the proposed work at Rotary Park would add two dog parks (one for small dogs, one for large dogs), picnic tables and cornhole tables, and a sign recognizing the Dawson Rotary Club’s contribution.
“Dawson Rotary Club is about 75 members,” Brook Anderson said, outlining the club’s local and statewide membership and noting Rotary’s past investments in splash pads, pickleball courts and other facilities. Commissioners thanked the club for its service and indicated broad support during the work session; no formal vote or funding allocation was made at the May 21 meeting.
Staff and commissioners said the proposal would be placed on the next voting session agenda for formal consideration.
