Milford council approves elevator, road resurfacing, catch‑basin and electrical upgrade contracts

Milford City Council approved a package of infrastructure and service contracts during the committee‑of‑the‑whole session and regular proceedings.

Elevator: Staff recommended awarding the city‑hall elevator modernization and safety contract to Bush Brothers Elevator Company after additional fire‑suppression work was discovered and quotes were updated. The recommended contract amount is $90,449; council directed the law director to draft an ordinance to repeal the prior contract and authorize the manager to enter the agreement; a recorded roll call was unanimous in favor.

Road resurfacing: Council authorized participation in the Clermont County 2026 road resurfacing program at a cost to Milford of $238,076.82. The manager noted partners spread cost and contingencies and flagged Mohawk Trail would be deferred because of budget limits.

Storm infrastructure: Council authorized replacing the deteriorated catch basin at Chamber Drive (near the roundabout) with Adleta/Elida Inc. as the low bidder, not to exceed $20,000, to be done ahead of planned paving.

Five Points electrical: Council authorized a contract with Atkinson & Stang to place flush electrical outlets along the Five Points Landing sidewalk (to support events such as farmers markets), not to exceed $17,423; manager said the work will be paid from grant funding tied to Five Points investments.

Audit engagement: Council authorized an agreement with the Auditor of State for the 2024–2025 audit cycle at $30,240 for the required bi‑yearly audit; council retained the right to hold exit interviews and review results when the state audit is complete.

All of the above ordinances were adopted by recorded roll call votes during the meeting.
