Board reviews March finances, adopts policy updates and approves broad personnel packet; executive session planned

The board received a finance briefing and approved several administrative items at the May 21 meeting. Superintendent Mr. Olsen reported general-fund revenues through March at $303,657,031, about 2% higher than FY25’s comparable figure, and said the increase is attributable to higher ad valorem valuations and increased MSFF funding. He also reported all-funds revenues and general-fund expenditures through March and discussed combined fund balances and cash positions.
On policy, the board voted to adopt revisions to board policy JBA and related policy language (JBB/JBD) to align required reporting and forms with state-level changes referenced as Senate Bill 2113 and Senate Bill 2103. Staff characterized the policy updates as required adjustments following guidance from the state school-board association resulting from the legislation.
The board also approved an extensive personnel packet that included job-description updates; requests to overlap and train staff; supplemental summer pay for counselors, mental-health therapists and special-education staff to perform evaluations, IEP work and programming; allocations for summer maintenance/grounds work; and transportation assignments for seasonal programs. Several items noted specific hourly totals and date ranges for summer assignments; where the transcript lists hours or dates it is reproduced exactly.
Finally, a motion was made to consider entering executive session to discuss student-discipline matters, personnel contract matters and potential litigation; the board planned to reconvene afterward to inform the public of any action taken in executive session.
