Sunset Beach Tree Board elects officers as group prepares outreach and inventory work

The newly formed Tree Board for the Town of Sunset Beach elected officers at its May 20 meeting as members set priorities for public outreach and a professional tree inventory.
At the meeting, Becky Spock accepted nomination and was elected chair; Susan Willlets was elected vice chair and Michelle Tinger was elected secretary. Motions to approve the agenda and the April minutes also were approved by voice vote. The board’s chair (not named in the meeting transcript prior to officer elections) led the proceedings.
The officers will help the board coordinate tasks such as taking meeting minutes, posting materials to the town website and organizing public events. Michelle Tinger, who will take minutes, said a recording of the meeting is available on YouTube for review.
Members agreed the board will meet regularly on the third Wednesday of each month and that a quorum is three of five members. The board also confirmed it can schedule additional meetings when necessary and that minutes should be circulated in advance to Kimberly (town staff) for posting.
Next steps: the board will formalize roles for outreach and administration and begin work on event planning and inventory research at upcoming meetings.
