Lake Forest officials used the May 21 meeting to recognize six businesses that completed the Orange County Inland Empire Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Main Street Digital Program and to preview the city's Taste of Lake Forest summer event.
Management Assistant Ian McKver told the council the program received $50,000 from the Strategic Economic Investment Program (SEP) to support digital training for local merchants; the first round in August 2025 included 20 businesses and the second round selected six eligible Lake Forest participants who completed a four-week training and a one-on-one session with an SBDC consultant. Each of the six businesses received a $1,000 grant to support digital advertising campaigns and will be recognized with a certificate and photo with the council; staff will deliver certificates to awardees who were not present.
McKver also previewed Taste of Lake Forest, returning to Heritage Hill Historical Park on Saturday, June 13 from 4 to 8 p.m., featuring roughly 25 restaurants, live music and beer-and-wine gardens. Tickets are $50 and limited to guests 21 and older; staff noted returning winners from last year's event and listed participating restaurants on the agenda.
What happens next: award presentations and photo opportunities will follow the meeting; staff will continue event promotion and accept sponsor applications.
