Treasurer Virginia presented the monthly report covering the listed date range and reported fund balances including a contingency fund balance of $446,588 and a capital improvement fund balance of $605,220. Commissioners asked whether an airport generator expense was shown as a grant; Virginia clarified the generator would be paid from capital improvement funds. The board voted to approve the treasury report.
The board read and approved a proclamation designating May 2026 as Military Appreciation Month in Custer County, Colorado. A member of the public, Mr. James, asked why the proclamation was being issued near the end of the month rather than at the beginning; the board replied the item arrived late and they would try to issue such proclamations earlier in the future.
County staff presented revised estimates for a courthouse-area sidewalk project along Highway 69. Updated construction estimates increased the project cost by roughly $75,000, raising the estimate from about $300,000 to $375,000; commissioners said rising petroleum and asphalt prices were a major factor. The board authorized staff to submit a letter requesting an additional $75,000 from the Central Front Range Transportation Planning Region (CFRTPR); the regional board will make the final award decision.
Commissioner Paul also requested an EMS appreciation recognition for EMS personnel and announced a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Wetmore Community Center to discuss the county clinic and local EMS and fire providers. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 9:29 a.m.
