"My name is Richard Robertson. I'm here representing Vietnam Veterans Post 511," Robertson said, adding he was there with Daryl, the post's president. Robertson said the post began with a $50,000 budget and the state contributed $50,000 toward the project; additional required concrete and bronze plaques raised costs and created a shortfall.
Robertson asked commissioners to consider a $25,000 contribution to cover the budget gap and said checks would be handled by the Alabama Veterans Museum, which has managed project funds to date. He invited commissioners to visit the site and attend a future dedication.
