The Millersburg Area SD board approved a slate of personnel actions, contracts and purchases across routine and operational items during the meeting.
Key votes and outcomes
- Approval of minutes for the April 23 regular meeting and a work session: motion passed by voice vote.
- Resignations accepted: the board approved the resignations of a full-time custodian and a paraprofessional (motions moved and approved by roll call).
- Hires approved: the board approved the employment of Nicole Weist as a full-time custodian and Sarah Martin as a middle-school special-education teacher; mentor-teacher appointments (including Ashley Eggleston and Brandy Bridal) and extended-school-year teachers and aides were also approved by roll call.
- Supplemental athletic contracts: summer and seasonal coaching contracts were approved, including Ryan Shute as summer weight-room supervisor. The record shows one abstention from Missus Gray on a supplemental-athletics contract; other coach appointments were approved by roll call.
- Leaves and personnel operations: four employee requests for uncompensated leave were approved in a single motion.
- Facilities and safety purchase: the board approved a quote from Capital Area Communications to install a two-way radio booster at the elementary school after administrators said the district’s new building revealed weak emergency-radio coverage in parts of the building. Administrators described the current work as focused on the elementary building only and said additional boosters may be considered later if needed.
- Donations and contracts: the board approved acceptance of a donated Lankerville Elementary playground sign, two CAIU agreements (school-age educational services and English-language-development services), a new store agreement (ref. 02/2627) and multiple MOUs with the education association clarifying step language and tuition-reimbursement timing (up to 12 credits from Sept. 1–Aug. 31).
Conflict-of-interest note
The board pulled one disbursement for separate consideration after noting that shirts for an end-of-year celebration had been ordered from a vendor associated with a staff member. The board discussed the potential conflict and directed that the involved board member abstain from the vote on that check.
Next steps
Administration agreed to provide usage and expenditure reports for flexible or temporary groundskeeping assistance approved by the board and to continue to bring implementation metrics for programs and hires. The meeting closed after board member remarks and the president’s report.
