Cuyahoga County’s Public Safety & Justice Affairs Committee on May 19 moved to the full council an amendment to the county’s sublease with the Shagrin Valley Dispatch Council to provide temporary subleasable space and equipment for the Cuyahoga County Emergency Communications (CCOM) dispatch center.
Brandy Carney, director of public safety and justice, said the county and Shagrin Valley have occupied 911 space at University Hospitals in Bedford but changes and demolition activity required planning a relocation to a county‑built space in Bedford Heights. Because circuits and technical connections have delayed the move, staff sought a month‑to‑month lease extension to bridge the gap while IT, public works and vendor partners finalize the migration. "This is just to get us through month‑to‑month until we’re able to make that final move," Carney said.
Committee members asked for a site visit; Carney agreed to arrange tours. The committee moved the amendment (resolution 20260139) to the full council under second reading.
What happens next: staff will continue planning the relocation, finalize circuits, and schedule facility visits for council members before the final move.
