Shenandoah council officially canvasses May 2 election, administers oaths to winners

The ordinance, introduced by staff and citing Chapter 67 of the Texas Election Code, summarized certified vote totals and declared John Escaro elected mayor; Ernest Summerall (position one) and Frank Robinson (position five) were declared elected. Councilman Brock moved to adopt the canvass ordinance; Councilman Pard seconded and the motion passed.
After the canvass, the council administered the oath of office to the newly elected officials. The mayor and council exchanged congratulations and thanked the outgoing member Ron Ray Maker for 10 years of service.
The ordinance will be filed with the appropriate county election authorities as the official canvas of the city's results.
