Commissioners generally supported the signs but raised practical concerns: several members asked about long‑term maintenance of painted wood signs, possible material alternatives such as aluminum, the visual scale of larger panels close to the building, and winter placement to avoid snow‑plow damage. Roberts and the designer said volunteers from the Friends will maintain the signs and will consider placement adjustments; staff and the Friends discussed making the smallest sign removable for winter storage.
The commission approved the signs, with the applicant agreeing to coordinate placement to avoid snow‑pile areas and to maintain the signs. The motion passed with one opposition and unspecified abstentions noted in the meeting record.
