Staff said the program was first presented to the commission on 04/28/2026 and no formal action was taken at that meeting so staff could gather additional feedback. The updated materials incorporate several recommendations, including fewer reporting requirements to make participation easier for volunteers and a stronger focus on community engagement and park programming.
The staff member listed example activities that volunteers and partners could run under the program, including movie nights, gardening initiatives, beautification projects and other community events, and said the effort is intended to foster collaboration and community pride in Panama City parks.
