Commissioners flag $384,106 road shortfall; hear preliminary ambulance barn plan

Judy also presented a preliminary concept for a new ambulance barn to replace the old facility: a minimum 40-by-60-foot building with two bays (three would be preferable for future critical-care capability), a mechanical room, a bathroom and storage. Commissioners discussed possible siting on the lot where the county's old nurses' house sits and the tradeoffs for senior-services parking and other uses. Staff emphasized the plan is preliminary and will require further engineering, budget work and public-notice steps before construction.
Commissioners asked staff to provide the formal budget amendment paperwork and to bring the item back after the public hearing. No formal vote on the amendment was taken at this meeting; the commission indicated the amendment would be considered at the April 30 session after required public notice.
This discussion also included a note that county policy treats most private driveway encroachments as the landowner's cost unless there is damage to the public road.
