County opens bids for 2026 asphalt, crack-sealing and courthouse sidewalk projects; decisions set for April 28

Audra Zacherl, Public Works Assistant Director, opened bids April 14 for three 2026 public-works projects and recommended staff take the bids under advisement and return with a recommendation at the April 28 commission meeting. Commissioners approved motions to take the bids under advisement on each project by 3–0 votes.
For the 2026 Asphalt Project three bids were opened: Hoffman's R&M Services, Inc. of Butte ($513,081.50); Montana Materials and Construction of Helena ($456,279.00); and Cap Paving, Inc. of East Helena ($461,669.50). For the 2026 Crack Sealing Project four bids were opened: Hardrives Construction, Inc. of Billings ($176,028.80); Z&Z of Billings ($185,644.70); Yellowstone Pavement Solutions of Belgrade ($186,148.44); and Cap Paving, Inc. ($239,337.60). For Courthouse Sidewalk Improvements one bid was received from Montana Materials and Construction ($197,069.00).
No public comment was received. Commissioner Candace Payne moved to take the Asphalt and Courthouse Sidewalk bids under advisement; Commissioner Andy Hunthausen moved to take the Crack Sealing bids under advisement. All motions were seconded and passed 3–0. Staff will return at the April 28 meeting with recommendations based on bid review.
