Commission approves seasonal hires, recalls and fair contractor for Fallon County Fair

At the meeting Chair (speaker 1) read staffing recommendations and led motions to approve seasonal personnel across several county programs. The commission accepted the weed crew slate presented by staff (speaker 11), moving and seconding approval for all named hires. “So moved,” the motion carried on a voice vote.

For the fairgrounds, fairboard representative (speaker 2) said Kelly Doolin confirmed she will return; commissioners moved to approve her appointment to the fairgrounds team and carried the motion. The fairboard also recommended contracting with Iconic Art Party LLC for the Fallon County Fair and Rodeo; Chair (speaker 1) moved to approve the contract citing the fairboard’s unanimous recommendation and budgeted funds. A commissioner noted reservations about that specific contractor but said the board recommendation justified approval.

The commission approved recall hires for cemetery maintenance (reinstating Jazz Hank/Janky for seasonal cemetery care) and the recall of Olivia Schultz to a county role; both motions were seconded and carried. Commissioners discussed ongoing recruitment to fill remaining seasonal openings and a job fair intended to boost applicant pools.

Actions taken at the meeting were specific and procedural: approvals of multiple seasonal hires by voice vote, recall authorizations for two prior hires and authorization to sign contracts recommended by the fairboard.
