The Madison County Board of Commissioners approved a Health and Human Services supplemental workforce grant and authorized recruitment steps for county personnel during its meeting.
Staff and commissioners discussed a supplemental workforce grant described in the meeting as $100,000 for fiscal year 2027, renewable for up to four years to help fund an additional full-time nurse in the HHS office. A motion to accept the grant was moved and seconded; the Clerk called the roll and the motion carried.
Separately, staff sought permission to recruit for a Safety Coordinator position following a resignation. The board moved and seconded to proceed with recruitment and voted in favor.
Commissioners also scheduled a compensation board meeting after noting the sheriff had a conflict with the originally proposed date. The board set the meeting for May 26 at 3 PM and discussed filling an open civilian slot on that board.
On governance items, the board reviewed proposed IT policies in the packet and moved to bring the policies back next week as a formal resolution rather than adopting them immediately. The Clerk recorded the motion to table and commissioners voted to carry it forward for a formal resolution.
