Grover resident tells Weld County commissioners truck traffic, dust from Pawnee Aggregate site is intolerable

At the Weld County Board of County Commissioners meeting on May 11, Grover resident Clay Kinison said a Pawnee Aggregate and diesel construction site has generated heavy truck traffic and quality‑of‑life impacts near his home. "We've had an average of 350 trucks going by our house... that's a total of 5,950 trucks" since the operation began April 25, Kinison said, later noting security camera footage of 428 trucks in a 24‑hour period.

Kinison said the operation produces dust and noise and that attempts to resolve the problem with the company, the state, and Weld County had produced little help. He told the board that the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety advised the company was operating "without proper permits" and read an excerpt saying the approved mining plan did not include this type of operation and must be updated. "We can't continue when the only thing I think about is 400 trucks going by my house," Kinison said.

Commissioner Maxey thanked Kinison for coming and said he had been in contact with the planning department and that the county's planning director was available for follow-up after the meeting. Maxey encouraged Kinison to speak with staff and said planning staff were researching the USR (unitary source report) and trying to move things along. The chair and other commissioners thanked Kinison for bringing the matter to the board; no formal county action or vote was recorded during the public comment segment beyond staff follow-up.
