MASON — The Mason County Commissioners Court adopted a property tax rate of $0.642700 during its Aug. 25, 2025 meeting, the court’s official order shows.
Commissioner Dave Underwood moved to set the rate at $0.642700, with a maintenance and operations component of $0.599600 and an interest-and-sinking component of $0.043100; Commissioner Buddy Schuessler seconded the motion. The motion states the adopted rate represents a 13.67% increase in the overall tax rate and that the maintenance-and-operations portion will effectively rise 4.31%, which the order estimates would raise taxes on a $100,000 home by approximately $25.84.
The record in the court packet lists the five-member quorum and shows the adoption date as Aug. 25, 2025. County Judge Sheree Hardin presided over the meeting.
Why it matters: County property-tax rates determine revenue available for services such as road and bridge maintenance, emergency services and county administration. The packet accompanying the court’s action includes the breakdown between maintenance-and-operations and debt service (interest and sinking).
What the order says next: The court’s motion and adopting order are recorded in the meeting materials. Any taxpayer questions about rates, valuation or protest procedures may be directed to the County Judge’s office (contact information in the court packet).
