Board honors North Havensville seniors and dozens of CTE certificants

The White County School Board opened its meeting by recognizing graduating seniors from North Havensville High School and announcing numerous career and technical education certifications earned this year.

Chair (speaker 1) introduced Miss Moss (speaker 3), who read students’ names and told the board the seniors had supported each other and school staff throughout their high-school careers. A letter from State Senator Aaron Straw was read in tribute to the graduates. Presenter (speaker 7) singled out Addison Ridgill as valedictorian (weighted GPA 4.68) and Daniela Arroyo as salutatorian (weighted GPA 4.6), and listed honors graduates by name.

The board also recognized a long list of CTE certifications earned through the district and iTech partnerships, including Entrepreneurship and Small Business, ASE medium/heavy truck technician credentials, EPA 608 refrigerant certifications, food protection management and a newly offered web/social-media strategist certificate. Board members and staff praised students’ honesty and work ethic; one attendee described returning a tip to a graduating culinary student because school policy directs tips to the school, then later giving the student a graduation gift to recognize her honesty (speaker 6).

Board members closed the segment with brief congratulations and an invitation for seniors to pose for a board photograph. The recognition portion concluded with the chair encouraging graduates to pursue further education or local careers and to consider returning to contribute to the community.
