Mason County commissioners approve routine measures, set bid dates and seek fuel-tax reimbursement

The court approved Nacho's Café as the food provider for the county Nutrition Program for calendar year 2026. The motion was made by Commissioner Fred Estes and seconded by Commissioner Reggie Loeffler; the motion carried.
County officials voted to buy two Zoll AED packages for the Mason County Jail and the Mason County Sheriff's Office at $2,129.99 each, for a total of $4,259.98. Commissioner Reggie Loeffler moved the purchase and Commissioner Fred Estes seconded; the motion carried.
The court also amended a previously submitted quote to build a carport at the historical building, increasing the quoted amount from $8,500.00 to $9,600.00; the work is to be paid from the Historical Building Fund. That motion was moved by Commissioner Fred Estes and seconded by Commissioner Reggie Loeffler and carried.
On procurement scheduling, the court authorized advertisement for sealed bids for two Road and Bridge Department vehicles. Notices will run in the Mason County Newspaper on Dec. 3 and Dec. 10, 2025; bids will be due Dec. 19, 2025 and opened by the Commissioners' Court on Dec. 22, 2025. The motion was approved by the court.
Separately, the court authorized county staff to request reimbursement from the Texas Comptroller's Office for motor fuel taxes paid since July 2025. The motion was made by Commissioner Fred Estes and seconded by Commissioner Reggie Loeffler; the motion carried.
Administrative notes included a report that the county burn ban was lifted Nov. 20, 2025, and a series of housekeeping items: Commissioner Buddy Schuessler submitted a certificate for continuing education; one phase of the county's Christmas lighting project was postponed because of weather; and advertisement for certain material bids was delayed until after Jan. 1, 2026.
