Mason County commissioners approve routine business, hires and policy updates

Mason County Commissioners Court on Oct. 14, 2025, approved a series of routine county actions including payment of bills, acceptance of donations, personnel moves and updates to administrative policies.
The court voted to pay accounts and settle bills after a motion listed Commissioner Reggie Loeffler as mover and Commissioner Fred Estes as seconder. The court also approved minutes for Aug. 25, Sept. 8 and Sept. 22, 2025 as presented by the county clerk.
Commissioners approved the appointment of Linsey Balmos to the Mason County Child Welfare Board after a motion by Commissioner Fred Estes and a second by Commissioner Buddy Schuessler. The court accepted a $2,000 donation to the Nutrition program and $300 to Mason County EMS; those motions were recorded as carried.
The court approved administrative updates to the Procurement Credit Card Program to cap tips at 20 percent and to allow an employer or elected official to sign an affidavit or pay an expense when a receipt is lost; the change and affidavit language were recorded in Commissioner’s Court Minutes Vol. 23, pages 707–708. Separately, the travel policy was amended to add the option to repay the lost-receipt amount or sign an affidavit; that change is recorded in Vol. 23, pages 709–712.
The court approved the 2025–2026 Cafeteria Plan Administrative Services Agreement with Zesch and Pickett (recorded in Vol. 23, pages 713–717) and approved a 2025–2026 AAA contract amendment for the Nutrition program setting reimbursements at $13.75 for home meal delivery and $13.05 for congregate meals (recorded in Vol. 23, pages 718–731).
Personnel actions included reclassifying Kelby Brown from part‑time basic to full‑time basic Mason County EMS employee at $19.90 per hour, effective Oct. 13, 2025, and acknowledging the hiring of Kenneth Dollinger as a full‑time investigator for the sheriff’s office at $26.50 per hour plus a $1.50 'senate bill' stipend, start date Oct. 25, 2025.
Other approved purchases included a mobile booster for the Road and Bridge Administrator’s truck at $1,099 with a $30 monthly fee and approval of a gWorks software migration for Road and Bridge for $11,259, with payments of $6,420 due in 2026 and $4,839 due in 2027. Proposals for in‑vehicle computers for law enforcement were presented but the record shows no action taken on that item.
