Commissioners approve routine business: minutes, grants, personnel, contracts and finance items
Summary
At the July 14, 2025 session the Matagorda County Commissioners unanimously approved the previous meeting minutes, an affidavit for a Texans Feeding Texans HDM grant, deputization funding for Stephen Lang, a tractor purchase for Commissioner Frick, a settlement payment, termination of a mitigation contract, and routine financial reports and transfers.
Matagorda County Commissioners used their July 14, 2025 meeting to approve a slate of routine administrative, financial and procurement items.
The court approved the July 7, 2025 minutes on a motion by Commissioner Mike Estlinbaum, seconded by Commissioner Edward "Bubba" Cook; the motion passed 5-0. The court also approved an affidavit for the Home-Delivered Meal (HDM) County Grant under the Texas Department of Agriculture's Texans Feeding Texans program for the Economic Action Committee of Gulf Coast (motion by Commissioner Charles "Bubba" Frick, second by Commissioner Troy Shimek; vote 5-0).
On personnel and payroll matters, the court authorized commissioned deputy Stephen Lang to receive Senate Bill 22 dispersed funds of $410.06 biweekly effective July 7, 2025 (motion by Commissioner Mike Estlinbaum, second by Commissioner Charles "Bubba" Frick; vote 5-0). The court also authorized Commissioner Frick to purchase a 2025 John Deere Cab Tractor Model 6120E, reflecting trade-in of a 2015 JD6115D and using Sourcewell Ag Contract #082923-DAC from Shoppa's Farm Supply (motion by Commissioner Frick, second by Commissioner Cook; vote 5-0).
The court accepted a Settlement and Indemnification Agreement between Kelvin Walton and Matagorda County and approved disbursement of funds from the Sheriff's Office related to that settlement (motion by Commissioner Mike Estlinbaum, second by Commissioner Troy Shimek; vote 5-0). The court also approved termination of Contract No. 059 with Matagorda Bay Mitigation Trust pertaining to the Matagorda Beach Public Access Improvements Project, effective Aug. 1, 2025 (motion by Commissioner Mike Estlinbaum, second by Commissioner Troy Shimek; vote 5-0).
Finally, the court approved District Clerk invoices, the Matagorda County Treasurer's monthly report and investment report for June 2025, ratified a $146.00 demand check to the U.S. Postmaster, approved payment of demand checks generally, and approved line-item transfers; all motions carried unanimously. County Judge Bobby Seiferman adjourned the session at approximately 9:55 a.m.
