House approves Rebuild Iowa Infrastructure Fund budget, member objects over omitted projects

Representative Kuehling (Lehi) commended aspects of the bill but said it omits funding requests he expected to see, including funding for the USS Iowa, multi‑year funding for the UNI project and support for the University of Iowa College of Nursing; he stated he would vote no for those reasons. Representative Bossman responded that the bill tracks closely with House priorities and that advocates would continue to press for omitted items in the next session.
The House adopted an amendment (H8479) and then, after substituting Senate File 2484 as identical to House File 2792, placed the bill on its passage. The clerk reported the recorded vote as 159 in favor, 26 opposed and 15 absent/not voting; the chair declared the bill passed and the title agreed to. Representative Coppin (Cedar) then asked that House File 2799 and Senate File 2484 be messaged to the Senate and the House granted unanimous consent to withdraw House File 2792 from further consideration.
