Mason County Commissioners on Aug. 4 approved an interlocal agreement with the Regional Public Defender to provide representation in capital cases for fiscal year 2026–27 for a fee of $1,000.
Commissioner Reggie Loeffler moved to approve the agreement and Commissioner Buddy Schuessler seconded; the motion carried. The minutes record the agreement and note it is filed in the Commissioner’s Court Minutes, Vol. 23, pages 540–550.
The minutes do not list the Regional Public Defender by name nor additional contract details beyond the fee and fiscal year. The county will rely on the interlocal arrangement to secure public-defense services in capital cases for the coming fiscal year.
