Matagorda County approves beach-maintenance contract, accepts $5,000 donation and renews legal research subscription

The court accepted General Land Office Contract #26-002-004 to provide state assistance in cleaning and maintaining public beaches and authorized Matagorda County Precinct No. 2 Commissioner Mike Estlinbaum to sign that contract. The motion to accept the contract was made by Commissioner Mike Estlinbaum and seconded by Commissioner Troy Shimek and carried unanimously.
The court also accepted a contribution of $5,000 from Lyondell Chemical Company to help pay expenses for the Matagorda County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event scheduled for Oct. 18, 2025. The donation was approved by a unanimous vote.
Separately, the court approved a renewal contract between the Matagorda County Attorney's Office and LexisNexis and authorized County Judge Bobby Seiferman to sign the renewal. The minutes do not state the contract value.
The court accepted the deputation of Haylee Crowley as a deputy clerk with the Matagorda County Clerk's Office and approved monthly departmental reports, invoices for Precinct #2/HR/Payroll/Emergency Management, payment of demand checks, line-item transfers and emergency amendments, all by unanimous votes recorded in the minutes.
During the meeting the court entered executive session under Texas Government Code Section 551.0725 to consult with county attorneys about a contract negotiation and later reconvened; no further public details of the executive-session deliberations are recorded in the minutes.
