County opens and awards Road & Bridge hauling and materials bids; approves 10-business-day packet deadline

Hauling bids opened at 10:15 a.m. and the court accepted bids from multiple vendors with the following terms recorded in the minutes: Water X-Press — $5.00 per loaded mile with a minimum 175 miles per day and rental $125.00 per hour (minimum 3 hours); DC Trucking — $6.25 per loaded mile with a $100.00 minimum load; Mag Materials — $6.50 per loaded mile with $100.00 minimum; Hanna Concrete & Oilfield Services — tiered rates listed per mileage bands and hourly rate of $135.00 per hour with mileage multipliers noted for marked county roads. The court passed an amendment to allow vendors 10 business days to complete bid packets; that amendment passed 4-1 with Commissioner Anderson opposed. A second amendment clarifying that incomplete bid packets after 10 business days will be denied carried 5-0.
Materials bids opened at 11:53 a.m.; the court accepted submissions for crushed granite, crushed limestone, flex base, cold asphalt mix and fill material from Mag Materials, Bull Rock, Hanna Concrete & Oilfield Services and R. Jacoby Excavation LLC with per-yard and per-ton pricing and minimums as recorded in the minutes.
Commissioners also noted recent storm damage to several county roads (Commissioner Maricle reported additional damage to FEMA roads; Commissioner Anderson reported CR 130 and CR 166 were destroyed and notified bidder Rufus Beam that his bid was awarded pending a hoped-for start after Jan. 1, 2026). The minutes say TxDOT is seeking a stockpile location for FM 504 re-topping and that any leftover material could be kept by McCulloch County.
