McCulloch County Commissioners on Dec. 8 approved submitting a permit application to the Texas Historical Commission for a gazebo project on behalf of Brady Revive and designated Commissioner Gary Maricle to sign the application.
During discussion, Lauren Bedwell described preferred bench designs for the courthouse sidewalk area: 4-foot composite-wood benches that will include donor plaques and be anchored to the sidewalk rather than installed in the ground. The court agreed with that specification and directed that benches be anchored to the sidewalk.
Charles Hodges asked whether the gazebo work would be completed by May 15 so it would not interfere with a planned time capsule presentation; the court was told the schedule would not conflict. The permit submission was approved by voice vote, 5-0.
The action authorizes staff to pursue review and approval from the Texas Historical Commission; the court did not set a construction start date in the meeting record. Separate discussions at the meeting noted ongoing coordination among county staff, Brady Revive representatives and consultants on project scope and placement.
