Parks & Recreation Superintendent Mason McMillen told the board the department typically receives about five memorial-item requests a year and presented options including benches, picnic tables, trees or contributions to special park projects; engraving costs were listed as to be determined. Board members asked for a visible menu of items and locations that potential donors can consult.
The board agreed that McMillen should continue to accept memorial requests and bring each to the board for placement review, taking the requestor’s location preference into consideration. Members also asked staff to research site-appropriate placements and return with recommendations at a future meeting.
Next steps: staff will prepare a locations menu and pricing details for board review; no formal policy or fee schedule was adopted at the April 15 meeting.
