County reviews six bids for Heflen Park sanitary line and lift station; low bid $281,412

Bids for the Heflen Park sanitary force main and lift station were presented May 11 to the Bartholomew County Commissioners by Parks Director Rich Day and consultant Jonathan LaTurner of DLZ.
The apparent low bidder was Reed and Sons Construction (Bloomington) at $281,412.07. Other bids included Monroe, LLC ($307,700.00), PAF Construction ($303,425.00), Dashiell Contracting ($350,875.00), Daystar Directional Drilling ($385,221.81) and Sub-Surface of Indiana ($538,581.25). Day and LaTurner said the project will be paid from Commissioners' and Parks Department funds.
County Attorney James Shoaf recommended taking the bids under advisement for review. Commissioner Carl H. Lienhoop moved that the board take the bids under advisement; Commissioner Larry S. Kleinhenz seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The board did not award a contract at the meeting; staff and counsel will complete a review before returning with a recommendation.
Next steps: staff and the county's engineering consultant will evaluate bids for responsiveness and recommend a contract award or rejection at a future meeting.
