County awards $45,107 pavement-marking contract and renews $6,255 GPS telematics agreement

Bartholomew County commissioners on May 11 approved two Highway Department procurement items presented by County Engineer Danny Hollander: a spring pavement-marking contract and a one-year GPS telematics renewal.
The board accepted a quote from Indiana Sign & Barricade (Indianapolis) totaling $45,107.01 to apply painted tick marks and 4-inch center and edge line striping over a combined 361,267 linear feet. RoadSafe Traffic Systems had submitted a higher combined quote of $113,777.40. Commissioner Larry S. Kleinhenz moved to accept the lower quote; Commissioner Carl H. Lienhoop seconded and the vote was unanimous.
Separately, Hollander presented an annual renewal agreement with Argos Government, LLC (Indianapolis) for 25 GPS telematics devices, two witness camera data packages and 24/7 help-desk services at a cost of $6,255. Commissioner Kleinhenz moved to approve the agreement; Commissioner Lienhoop seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Hollander also noted recent crew activities—culvert replacements, crack sealing and road widening—that align with the pavement-marking work. The board approved the procurements and will proceed to contract execution with the selected vendors.
