Resident praises county resolution opposing 765 kV transmission line; route decision delayed

Gerald Nobles of the Friends of the San Saba addressed the McCulloch County Commissioners on Nov. 24 to thank the Court for its resolution opposing a proposed 765 kV transmission line and to report that the group now counts more than 180 members. Nobles credited Representative Drew Darby for legislative work toward an alternative route and said the decision on the transmission line route has been delayed from December to March; he submitted documentation to County Clerk Christine Jones for the minutes.
County Judge Frank Trull updated the Court on regional disaster-recovery planning, reporting that representatives from Menard and neighboring counties, Concho Valley Council of Governments staff, and Delivering Results and Solutions (DRS) discussed FEMA Disaster 4879 grant administration. Trull said DRS has 20 years of FEMA disaster-recovery experience and that the firm is vetted through HGACBUY, which can allow counties to bypass a separate procurement procedure so long as HGACBUY procurement meets FEMA requirements. He said he will place an interlocal agreement for HGACBUY membership on the next Court agenda so McCulloch County may be considered for participation.
Trull also said he contacted the Texas Historical Commission regarding the courthouse roof insurance denial and that TAC will send an additional engineering firm to evaluate the roof on or around Dec. 10–11, 2025. The Judge reported recent rain caused some water intrusion but no new leaks have been identified. He also described visiting the Old Super S Building with Commissioners Young and Deans and city officials; when he inquired about the group's purpose he said he received no immediate answer and asked that any communications with the City regarding the building be placed on the Court agenda so all members may be informed.
No formal action on the transmission line route or the courthouse roof condition was taken at the meeting; the Court approved placing related items on future agendas.
