The Etowah County Commission approved a broad consent agenda at its April 7, 2026 meeting that included routine minutes and financial reporting and a series of personnel changes and surplus declarations.
Commission President Jeffery Washington opened the meeting at 9:00 a.m.; a motion by Commissioner Jamie Grant, seconded by Commissioner Mike Powell, approved the consent agenda with Commissioner Tim Ramsey recorded as abstaining and the remaining members voting yes. The commission recorded five members present and one absent (Craig Inzer Jr., District 6).
Personnel actions approved on the consent agenda included County Engineer Robert Nail’s request to hire Tristian Moore as an equipment operator effective April 13, 2026, to be paid from the Gas Tax Fund at $16.54 per hour; Chief Administrative Officer Shane Ellison’s promotion of Kacy Wiemann to assistant shelter manager/animal control officer, effective March 27, 2026, at $19.23 per hour; and the transfer of Rachel Stinson to animal control officer effective April 3, 2026, at $15.36 per hour. The commission also approved placement or hiring in the Revenue and Sheriff’s offices, including three revenue tag/title clerks (Billie Jean Cooper, Madison Tankerslay, Kimberly Ramsey) at $13.24 per hour and the placement of Chase Jenkins and Seth Williamson in Sheriff’s Office positions with hourly rates noted in the minutes.
The commission approved multiple surplus declarations requested by Maintenance Director Scottie Hardy and County Engineer Robert Nail. Listed surplus equipment included vehicle lifts (various makes and models), computer equipment (Dell Optiplex desktops), a 3000 PSI pressure washer, a Maxon radio, and a 2001 International truck (Sign Truck, VIN 1HTSCABM01H389170). Deputy Revenue Commissioner Annette Thompson’s request to declare twenty black cloth chairs from the tag office surplus was also adopted.
The approvals are recorded as part of the consent agenda and carry typical purchasing and personnel follow-up procedures at the department level. The meeting recessed for a brief work session and later reconvened; staff reports were filed and the meeting adjourned at 9:38 a.m.
