Midland County OKs lease for bucket truck to install tag-unit pole cameras

The Midland County Commissioners Court on Dec. 2 approved a three-year lease for a bucket truck to support installation of pole-mounted surveillance cameras for the county tag unit.
A presenter for the tag unit (presenter) told the court the bucket truck "is used to put up pole cams on existing utility poles" and that the vendor arrangement has been used successfully by other tag units. The presenter said the lease would be "100% funded by the tag funds" and would not use county general funds.
Commissioner (speaker 8) moved to authorize the county judge to sign the specialty fleet contract; the county judge seconded the motion and the court approved it by voice vote.
The presenter said the truck will permit the tag unit to install cameras and related equipment without relying on outside vendors who can take days or weeks to schedule installation. The presenter also said personnel would be trained and certified to install the systems.
The court recorded no detailed dollar amount on the record during the item and noted the lease terms will be brought forward for signature by the county judge.
The court moved on to the next item after the approval.
