Library director dismissed and assistant named interim at Midland County meeting
Summary

Commissioners voted on Aug. 19 to dismiss the Midland County library director (action taken in open session following an executive session) and to appoint Julie Pearson, assistant director, as interim director until the county hires a permanent replacement. The court also approved a separate contract to bring author Dan Santat to the county’s Project Literacy program.
Julie Pearson told the court she would lead the library’s Project Literacy efforts and other library functions while the county explores permanent leadership options.
The court recorded the votes and directed staff to begin the administrative steps necessary to effect the staffing change and to work with library leadership on continuity of operations during the transition.
