Court approves internal re-budget to retain Texas Anti-Gang grant funds for Permian Basin program

"We're just moving money within the grant, about $459,000 plus a little bit more to try to focus our end of the year to make sure we can keep the money from the governor's office in the Permian Basin, and we can spend our money," Parton said.
The court approved the budget adjustment request and authorized submission of the formal request to the Office of the Governor for the anti-gang grant in FY2026. The approval was made by motion and voice vote; no dissenting votes were recorded on the motion on the transcript.
The action moves line items inside an existing grant rather than requesting new county general-fund dollars; Parton said the change reallocates operating expenses within the grant to address program priorities and maintain compliance with the governor's funding timeline.
