The Trussville City Council adopted a set of ordinances and resolutions on April 28 that together update the city budget, amend code enforcement provisions, authorize select business activities and annex two properties.
The council unanimously approved a resolution amending the FY2026 budget to reflect updated revenue and expense estimates, with Finance Director Joseph Calvert’s presentation at the workshop noting an estimated $1.7 million surplus (up from $1 million in the original budget). The council also accepted the city’s FY2025 audit, adopted an ordinance amending compliance and enforcement provisions of the municipal code (Ordinance No. 2026-007-ADM), and approved two annexations (Ordinance Nos. 2026-009-ANX and 2026-010-ANX).
Councilors approved Resolution No. 2026-28, which allows existing CBD retailers to continue selling compliant hemp products while directing the clerk to pause new applications for up to 90 days; the resolution passed 3–1 with Councilor Jim Miller dissenting. The council passed Ordinance No. 2026-008-ADM, replacing sections of the code regulating home occupations; the vote was unanimous except for Miller’s recorded abstention.
The council also approved Resolution No. 2026-29 recognizing Police K-9 Leo’s service and Resolution No. 2026-33, which declares certain industrial-park property surplus and authorizes an option-and-lease agreement with The Towers LLC for a Verizon Wireless cell site; Resolution 2026-33 passed 3–1 (Miller dissenting). A resolution granting an alcohol license to Trussville Texaco (Resolution No. 2026-30) passed 3–1 (Miller dissenting).
