Helena council tables Henley‑Sector 2 master plan modification to May 11

The Helena City Council on April 27 voted to table consideration of the Henley‑Sector 2 master plan modification and preliminary plat until the May 11 work session.
Councilmember Jeff McDaniels pushed for an economic impact study before action; Dennis Wilson pressed for a firmer commitment from the developer not to clear additional trees. Developer Brandon Todd said Sector 2 is part of an existing master plan approved years earlier, that plans for Sector 2 were approved in 2014 and that the applicant proposes reducing the number of homes from 11 to six. Todd said the trees in the section have already been cleared and he does not plan additional clearing.
Jeff McDaniels moved to table the item to May 11; Andy Healy seconded. The motion carried 4–1, with Cathy Hammann opposed.
Why it matters: Councilmembers asked for more concrete information about environmental impacts and economic effects before approving a modification that changes unit counts. Tabling allows staff and the developer time to provide additional materials requested by council members.
