The Arapahoe County Board of Health approved a standard six‑month separation agreement for department directors during its monthly business meeting.
The chair moved to approve and execute the separation‑agreement template for the public health director; a second was offered and the motion passed on a voice vote. The board also approved the April meeting minutes earlier in the session.
Board members discussed the bylaws process, upcoming officer elections and protections for board members under the Colorado Governmental Immunity Act. Staff said the bylaws amendments would be returned as redlined draft language and then sent to the Board of County Commissioners for review before a final vote.
In administrative business, staff announced that Dr. Paul Mayer has been selected as the department’s next chief medical officer after a competitive search; he currently serves as chief medical officer for Larimer and El Paso counties. Staff said an onboarding plan is in place and a start date was being finalized.
Other routine items included roll call, staff introductions and operational reminders, such as a predictive‑index survey for board members. The meeting adjourned after those business items were completed.
The board’s action on the separation‑agreement template is administrative (standardizing exit terms for county department directors); staff will circulate the finalized agreement and the updated bylaws language for subsequent consideration and formal recordation.
