Commission approves consent agenda, Sipes Canyon contract and routine finance items

The Gallatin County Commission handled routine business Tuesday, approving the consent agenda after a clerk correction to EFT and warrant numbers. A staff member corrected the packet to show EFTs through 1737 and the last check as 81070062 before the commission voted to approve the consent agenda 2–0.
The commission accepted the treasurer’s February report after Treasurer Horton said motor vehicle offices processed more than 6,500 transactions between Belgrade and Bozeman and noted one vacancy in motor vehicle staff that the county is recruiting to fill.
The commission awarded the Sipes Canyon parking and trail improvements contract to Highland Construction Services LLC for $73,313.40 after county engineer Levi Ewen said three bids were received and the low bidder was recommended. The commission also accepted a donated public easement from landowners John and Gloria Dennis to allow parking and trail alignment.
Finance Director David Albright briefed commissioners on an IT budget shortfall driven by increased subscription costs and requested a transfer of $95,299 from the general fund contingency and $84,157 from the PILT contingency to cover professional services shortfalls; commissioners approved resolution 2026‑036 to make those transfers.
