Organizers lay out schedule and safety plans for town's 250th celebration and rodeo

Deputy treasurer Cheryl Morrison (S7) presented plans for the town's 250th celebration and related events, saying the day would begin at 9:00 a.m. at the fairgrounds with a children's reveal and continue with a parade, auction, a noon cow-cut and a rodeo that would start shortly after 1 p.m.
"We've got 3 things starting at 09:00. And, one of them is the children's reveal, and that's all gonna be out at the fairgrounds," Morrison said while outlining the schedule and logistics. She told the council event insurance will be needed for fireworks and that organizers are coordinating parking and safety around the parade route.
Council members emphasized safety and accessibility, noting concerns about children running near parked vehicles along the route and planning a no-parking zone or sawhorse barriers on one side of the route. Morrison said organizers would coordinate with the chamber and volunteers to help manage parking and veteran access to the rodeo.
Council noted that funds collected at the event will be used to reimburse the roping club for event costs as laid out in the resolution governing the event's funds. No formal vote was required; the presentation served as an operations update and planning discussion ahead of the event.
