Code Enforcement Board nominates hearing officers, upholds two citations and dismisses another

At its April meeting the Louisville Metro Code Enforcement Board confirmed two hearing officers, upheld citations for 324 Frank Avenue (default; $150) and 2053 Sherwood Avenue (upheld; $250), and dismissed the 4879 Brenda Drive matter; staff filed several redocket requests.
The Louisville Metro Code Enforcement Board met in April and confirmed hearing officers Christine Snyder and Pam Waddell before taking up enforcement cases, chair Chris Wantland said at the opening of the meeting.
The board handled a series of citation appeals. In case ENF-BRD-26-00318 for 324 Frank Avenue, the appellant did not appear and the board upheld the citation and associated $150 fine by default, hearing staff said.
At 2053 Sherwood Avenue (case ENF-SWMS-26-000375), the board reviewed photographs submitted by an enforcement officer showing material projecting above the sides of a trailer. Respondent Thomas Newton testified he had secured the load with multiple ratchet straps and submitted affidavits and photos of straps. ‘‘I would never drive around town with an unsecured load,’’ Newton said, adding he sent affidavits from three crew members. County counsel responded that the board’s photographs ‘‘clearly demonstrate a violation’’ and that straps are not visible in the submitted pictures. After reviewing evidence the board upheld the $250 citation and advised documenting straps in photos with visible date/time stamps. Newton asked about payment arrangements and was told fines must be paid in full.
The board also read case ENF-BRD-25-00907 for 4879 Brenda Drive and, after testimony from an animal-control officer, moved to dismiss that citation.
Staff made redocket requests for two additional matters (1029 East Breckenridge and 3004 Cleveland Boulevard), and one previously listed no-show was re-entered as a conditional discharge for 3221 Ford Haven Road. With no further business, the board adjourned.
