A parent described a lengthy in-person registration process for swim lessons that left many families waiting for hours and disappointed when classes were already full.
Randy recounted arriving early and still waiting until noon to sign up and said some people were there as early as 6 a.m. "I got there right when I thought I was doing good... I was still there until noon, and it was 1 child signing up and everything was booked," he said, urging better registration procedures and clearer communication on class availability.
Staff noted Exos as the program operator and said online resources exist but staff acknowledged the sign-up system has experienced changes and maintenance. The parent also reported a last-minute pool closure the prior Saturday because of a chemical issue that canceled lessons for that day.
Committee members suggested splitting sign-up lines by skill level and increasing staff at sign-up events to reduce wait times. Staff said they are working through system transitions and will review operational procedures with the operator to reduce future disruptions.
The committee did not record any formal action on changes to swim registration or pool staffing during the session; members asked staff to follow up with operational details and potential procedural changes.
