The Gadsden City Council on May 19 adopted several resolutions, approving a restaurant retail liquor license for Parker's Irish Pub LLC at 315 South 2nd Street and moving a package of routine items forward.
At a public hearing, council opened comment on the liquor-license application for a business identified in the record as Parker's Irish Pub LLC. A supporter spoke in favor, and the council moved to adopt the resolution; the chair announced the motion carried.
Council also adopted a resolution authorizing a temporary construction workspace permit for Southern Natural Gas Company LLC to perform required pipeline integrity testing with access from city property located near the Coosa River behind the Lowe's store. The resolution authorizes the permit, subject to city conditions.
Separately, the council approved an agreement with a local Masonic organization to place and maintain a Masonic memorial within Nalula Falls Park for a 40‑year term; the contract requires the organization to maintain the monument and includes indemnification and termination provisions for breach or insolvency.
The meeting included several appointment resolutions. The council appointed and reappointed members to the Argyle Circle Architectural Review Board (appointing Alex Mauricio and reappointing Lamar Smith with terms noted in the resolution) and to the city library board (appointing Whitebear Lacroy, Andy Jarnell, Michelle Daniel and Sherry Bridges; reappointing Glenda Hicks, Hilda Moody and Fred Zachary, with the terms specified in the adopted resolution).
Each of the listed resolutions was moved, seconded and adopted by voice vote as recorded by the clerk.
What happens next: The liquor license granted to Parker's Irish Pub LLC clears the council stage; the company will continue required permitting and inspections before opening. The Southern Natural Gas work will proceed under the terms of the city permit, and the Masonic organization is responsible for monument maintenance under the agreement.
