Carlisle council appoints Andrya Carter to fill vacant seat

The Carlisle City Council on Jan. 12 appointed Andrya Carter to fill a vacant council seat, voting 3–1 to give Carter a term ending Jan. 1, 2028. The motion was made by Council member Tracey McAvoy and seconded by Council member Beth Sauter; Council member Krista Beck cast the lone nay vote.
Mayor Dan Carver administered the oath of office to Andrya Carter after the council vote. The council’s action followed a candidate interview process in which Carter and another applicant, identified only as Haberkamp in the agenda, were considered for the vacancy.
The appointment was taken during the meeting’s consideration of old and new business. City staff later noted that newly appointed members must complete required open-records and open-meetings training; City Administrator Deven Markley said he is arranging training for members McAvoy and Carter.
The council approved the appointment without specifying additional duties or committee assignments for Carter during the meeting. The council adjourned at 8:26 P.M.
