At the Jan. 6 Village of Carpentersville board meeting, trustees approved an appointment to the Special Events Advisory Committee and unanimously approved the consent agenda. During public comment, a county official offered updates about regional services.
Under agenda item 5 the board considered a motion for advice and consent to appoint Neli T. Garcia to the Special Events Advisory Committee with a term ending Jan. 31, 2028. Trustee Garcia moved the appointment, Trustee Maniscalco seconded, the clerk called roll, and the board approved the appointment by roll call.
The board then considered the consent agenda (items a–g). Trustee Garcia moved to approve the consent agenda and Trustee Abbott seconded. The clerk conducted a roll call vote; President Skillman announced the motion carries with unanimous support.
During public comment Chris Kias, who identified himself as King County board member for District 23, briefed attendees on county initiatives: a new, opt‑in public‑safety alert system offering text, phone, email and app notifications; a countywide coordinated paratransit program intended to consolidate trip scheduling; a mental‑health first‑aid expansion for educators, first responders and community leaders in partnership with the Family Services Association of Greater Elgin; and a newly opened clerk’s office at 2170 Point Boulevard offering routine services (passport processing awaiting approval). Kias also mentioned recent park improvements and related community use.
