Commission backs Hand & Stone ownership transfer at Randhurst, forwards recommendation to village board

The Planning & Zoning Commission voted to recommend the village board approve a conditional use to change ownership of an existing massage-therapy tenant at 1052 Center Drive in the Randhurst shopping center.
Staff said the space previously housed Massage Envy and most recently Hand and Stone under different ownership; the petitioner, Michael Hendershot, told the commission he and his wife purchased the existing location and plan to continue operating the Hand & Stone franchise there with licensed massage therapists and aestheticians. Staff recommended approval subject to standard conditions: all therapists must hold valid Illinois licenses, compliance with building/fire codes and village regulations, and that a new conditional use would be required for a major change in ownership or location.
The commission moved, seconded and voted to forward a positive recommendation to the village board; staff noted the board will consider the item at its June 2 meeting.
