"This year, we're featuring replacement of over 15,000 linear feet of water main," a staff member said, outlining that nearly 11,500 feet of 6-inch main will be upsized to 8-inch and that roughly 2,700 feet of 12-inch main will be replaced in kind.
Staff recommended including a 10% contingency to cover unexpected underground conditions; with that contingency the total award would be $6,117,294.70. The board voted to accept the lowest cost responsible bid and the recommendation to include contingency.
Project scope and timeline: staff said the work will start in late April or early May and is typically completed by midsummer; two alternate bid items addressed additional local replacements and restoration methods (sod vs. seed) to manage costs and seasonal restoration success.
