Mount Prospect promotes Allison Tevin as police department’s first female commander

The board and audience gathered for an oath administered by Village Clerk Cara De Adiranes; Tevin repeated the oath to “uphold the Constitution of the United States, the State of Illinois, and the rules and regulations of the Mount Prospect Police Department” and accepted the commander’s badge from a family member.
Why it matters: Police leadership said Tevin’s appointment fills a command‑staff vacancy created by a recent retirement, and the promotion marks a departmental milestone in gender representation. The chief told the board he expected Tevin to serve as one of the department’s three patrol commanders and praised her track record of commendations and awards.
