Council reviews framework of three-year firefighters contract; final approval to return under omnibus agenda

City Administrator Miller told the council that negotiations with the firefighters union (Local 3084) have largely concluded and that the contract will be a three-year agreement beginning May 25 and running through 2027. The administrator said the agreement includes pay increases and back pay for the prior year and incorporates stipends for training: $100 per month for EMR accreditation and $150 per month for EMT accreditation.
Miller said all outstanding issues had been narrowed to a few items and that new hires will be required to be EMT certified. "All of the other contracts have been settled, the three unions. The fire contract was the last one," he said. Council members asked for the finalized contract to be returned under the omnibus vote agenda (OVA) for formal approval once the paperwork is complete.
No formal motion or roll-call vote on the firefighters contract occurred in the public portion of the meeting; staff will return the contract under OVA when ready.
