Broken Bow schedules citywide cleanup May 11; some items not accepted

City Administrator Schmidt announced at the April 9 Broken Bow City Council meeting that the Citywide Clean Up will take place on May 11, with free iron and trash roll-offs available at Tomahawk Park. He said the event was successful last spring and will feature a free tree dump on both May 11 and May 18.
Chief Scott said the police department will step up enforcement for nuisance and municipal-code violations in the lead-up to the event and officers will hand out flyers to encourage public participation. Mayor Rod Sonnichsen clarified that tires, paint and motor oil cannot be accepted at the clean-up because of high disposal costs and typically require grant funding to cover those expenses.
Councilmember Paul Holland thanked the Street and Parks departments for their work on the new picnic shelter. The council adjourned at 6:22 p.m.
